How do rules break?
They break one shortcut at a time
One "this is easier"
This is quicker.
This is better.
Rules break
As a slow shift to convenience
That you didn't even notice
But you taught your son
To take the shortcut across the road
Instead of the crossing
And soon
Soon
This convenience is placed elsewhere.
For what reward is there in doing the right thing?
When life is so much easier without rules
And the guidelines
And the guardrails
And with all the unnecessary precautions removed
We could just jump track
And fall -
When there is nothing left to catch us.
