time.

I stole a week

To have the patience,
For a child adjusting to change
To have a cake cooling on the counter
For when the children came home
To commune with a friend, a cup of coffee, to last
For hours
To complete the long delayed to-do list, only
For it to regenerate.

Wouldn’t it be great if this was
Real life?
To have the privilege of such prosperity
It didn’t matter how you spent it -
It is a cost you can’t make back.
I know the wealth would cripple me
And I would whittle it away
Lost in meaningless endeavours
But this sample
Is a treasure
Simply because it is
Finite.

I stole a week
And found,
It was more than worth the
Time.
