letters and lattes

You can trust me
When your secret is whispered
Written on invisible ink
Etched in your heart
Only daring to be seen
For a moment or two
In the dark
Just brief enough
When the dim light makes us trusting
And the special ingredients
Of acid and heat
Or courage and liquor
Are applied in equal measure.

I’ll place it in the vault
And you may even forget you shared it
(That’s how well I keep it)
But your secret
Will not be short of company
As it lays dormant
Buried
Sealed in security
For me to keep 
Indefinitely -
Along with all the others.
